A Probability Sampling Approach for Variance Minimization

A number of techniques for probability sampling without replacement (SWOR) have been suggested, although it is not clear which method is consistently superior in terms of statistical efficiency. Rao and Bayless (1969) empirically studied the stability of estimators of the population total for a variety of methods of unequal probability SWOR when selecting two units per stratum. One of their maj...

Hartley Series Direct Method for Variational Problems

The computational method based on using the operational matrix of anorthogonal function for solving variational problems is computeroriented. In this approach, a truncated Hartley series together withthe operational matrix of integration and integration of the crossproduct of two cas vectors are used for finding the solution ofvariational problems. Two illustrative...

Harmonic Modeling of Inrush Current in Core Type Power Transformers Using Hartley Transform

This paper presents a new method for evaluation and simulation of inrush current in various transformers using operational matrices and Hartley transform. Unlike most of the previous works, time and frequency domain calculations are conducted simultaneously. Mathematical equations are first represented to compute the inrush current based on reiteration and then Hartley transform is used to stud...

A Variant of Jessen’s Inequality of Mercer’s Type for Superquadratic Functions

A variant of Jessen’s inequality for superquadratic functions is proved. This is a refinement of a variant of Jessen’s inequality of Mercer’s type for convex functions. The result is used to refine some comparison inequalities of Mercer’s type between functional power means and between functional quasi-arithmetic means.

On a Reverse of Jessen’s Inequality for Isotonic Linear Functionals

A reverse of Jessen’s inequality and its version for m − Ψ−convex and M − Ψ−convex functions are obtained. Some applications for particular cases are also pointed out.
